Whilst looking into possible nerve regenerating substances I came a cross some triazine compound.
I wonder in the case of military personnel if there is a link with exposure to triazine compounds or a compound containing triazine in a susceptible group ?
Triazine or some compound of triazine are known to have a neurological impact
Emerging Contaminants –
Hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine (RDX)
February 2011
RDX targets the nervous system and can cause seizures in humans and animals when large amounts are inhaled or ingested. Human studies also revealed nausea and vomiting following inhalation or oral exposure to unknown levels of RDX. (ATSDR 1995; EPA 2005). .

The potential risk to wildlife from exposure to explosives, including 1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazine (RDX), has been an issue at numerous U.S. military installations where these substances are found in soil and water.

A major barrier to regeneration of CNS axons is the presence of growth-inhibitory proteins associated with myelin and the glial scar. To
identify chemical compounds with the ability to overcome the inhibition of regeneration, we screened a novel triazine library, based on
the ability of compounds to increase neurite outgrowth from cerebellar neurons on inhibitory myelin substrates.

Into the heart, an air that kills, from yon far country blows.
What are those blue remembered hills, what sphires what farms are those.
That is the land of lost content,I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went and cannot come again
